Santa Debate

This time of year always makes me remember when Vic was in Kindergarten and came home around Christmas time and said Mommy, is there a Santa Clause!

Gasp! I thought we don't need to worry about for years!

I asked Vic, "What do you think?"
She said, " Well, if you don't believe in him then he won't believe in you"

Hmm.. okay that would work,

Then Easter rolls around and here Vic comes home and says" You know what I heard today?"
*GREAT I think now kill off the Easter bunny!

Then with GREAT drama in her voice..."There is No GOD!"
I almost choked on my drink!

After I stopped sputtering and Mom picked me up off the floor... Victoria said in her matter of fact way...

"I just told her if you don't believe in God then you are going to HELL."

Now exactly what I would have suggested that she say to the bully but I mean come on, that probably made the little girl think!

A few of my favoite things! Check out for the update on the thermostat

Here are a few of my favorite things right now...
1. The girls(V&V) and the kids (M&W) oh and Bill.
2. Giant Cinnamon rolls
3. Jean and Phil's dressing, really I don't need the turkey!
4. My little dog Scooter. I asked for a puppy this Christmas but Bill used his veto rights. :(
5 Mario Kart I know old school right... and I can't drive that thing too well! Will wins every time!
6. The thermostat was really broken and that I wasn't the moron who couldn't work it! I still don't like the thing!
7. Mom working the laptop...that alone would make good TV.
8. Big Bang Theory: I think I live with my own Sheldon... No names mentioned but you all might be able to figure it out! He has a "spot"...
9. Christmas trees even though I don't like taking them down.
10. Seeing Michelle's new house. They say she even cooks. I need to see this in person, I am not saying I am going to eat I just want to witness it.

Merry Christmas and how the UPS man almost ruined Christmas

Merry Christmas, the girls (Vic and Val) are not here and we did the kids (Meagan and Will's) Christmas on Christmas eve so it is VERY quiet on the home front. The girls come back tomorrow so today is going to be very quiet for a while. Mom and Keith came last night.

On a funny note my sister and I pooled our money on a small laptop for my mom. She can't work it too well so she keeps asking me what does this mean etc. Bill was helping her set it up last night and it sounded like the shuttle launch. Working the mouse pad was challenging. I think by today she is getting the hang of it. She is going to "try to get back on her facebook but can't remember the password!"
A few minutes ago she asked me if she could see my blog so I told her the address. She said "address?" I said "yes the URL" well she looked like I just spoke french. I know I should have just typed it in for her but it is FREEZING in here so I didn't want to get up. (more on the thermostat later) I spelled it for her S-L-O-W-L-Y and then she got it!

VERY comical...I said you know this is going into the blog...

As we got ready for this Christmas Bill and I decided to buy most of our things online! YES, shopping in my pjs watching Big Bang Theory!

So I ordered Victoria the huge barbie house! Yea me right!

A couple of days later (enough for me to forget that I was waiting on packages) The girls and I arrive from a particularly stressful day at school and I was unloading the car. The girls bounded up to the door and I hear...Vic yell out that there is a Barbie house on our porch!
GREAT!

I run up there and Vic says, "Did Santa come early?" Like he is too busy this year so he just kicks presents out his sleigh before Christmas to just land on the porch!

So I start to panic a little, Vic has already had someone tell her that Santa isn't real and I am desperately trying to keep it alive for her. So I say, No this is a mistake that isn't ours. Nope must be for someone else! Then like all mothers..."Go in the HOUSE"

Would you budge?
Didn't think so, they didn't either, so I kept saying "go in the house, go in the house, (light bulb on now) didn't you both ask me if you could have ice cream?? It is in the freezer, see if you can get it!" Good mother right! *sigh*

Now I am really in a pickle because no way am I bring this into my house. I go to the garage and open it. Carry the huge box around the outside and hide it with a sheet. It was really big and took me awhile to do!

I sent Bill a text that said, shopping on line might be easier that going to the stores but with shopping at a store there is NO WAY THE UPS MAN WILL RUIN A CHRISTMAS SURPRISE!

I come in and both girls are elbow deep in ice cream. *Nice* Victoria's immediate response, Where is the house...

I told her, "Well, you won't believe what happen... I was walking down the street with the box and some other little girls' daddy was walking looking for her Barbie house! Lucky right"

Blank stare...

She let it go but Jean thinks that she just let me slide and that Victoria will know once she sees the Santa gift. I will update you tomorrow cross your fingers!

OMG! That cinnamon roll is as big as Meagan's head!

So we (Meagan, Will and I) went to San Antonio for the day. We saw the TV show Man vs. Food. The episode had a HUGE cinnamon roll and the location was not to far away so can you say ROAD trip.
Bill had to work so we went on without him. His loss! It takes about 3 hours to get there from here so off we went. We left around 9 in the morning and quickly had to turn around for the camera. Can't go without documentation! Once on the road we occupied ourselves with the book of questions. Interesting things to know about M and W... Will will do just about anything for money, including cutting off body parts and shaving his head. In his words... I do that now and no one is paying me!
Meagan will not hurt anyone... unlike me who will kill for any minor of reasons! Who knew!

Along the way Meagan took may pictures of the road signs for Buccees road stop. They were very funny... one said OMG it is s Beaver... and ah come on you can hold it! there had to be hundreds of them. Counting down the miles. So of course we went there. On a side note they had REALLY clean bathrooms!

Once we were gassed up and potty breaked off we went on the rest of the way!

3 hours later the GPS put us NEAR the place. It was a little hard to find because those streets are confusing and I was of course talking on the phone... nice right.

We finally found it and OMG... it was a dive. I like dives I just don't like parking my pretty car by the seedy motel! Uggh... But we were on an adventure and so park I did. I doubled checked the lock on my door and we took the cameras so cross your fingers folks the car would be okay.

Inside was confirmation on the DIVE thing but we wanted to SEE the big ROLL! We sat down and ordered. Camera in hand we discussed how ridiculous we looked taking pictures of food but what did we care we didn't' know anyone there. We ordered and waited... and waited... finally we saw one on anther table... It is HUGE.. I mean seriously you can see from the picture how big but really unless you see it in person you can't really get the full aspect!

Then the waitress came over for ours...Holy crap it was BIG!!! Unfortunately we got a side piece so two sides were hard but we didn't let that slow us down. All and all it was good.

On the way back we discussed dating and what not...word to the wise it is going to take a lot to get our Meagan to go out with you guys. TRY HARD!

That was a good day. Meagan and Will are always good for a laugh. OH and we brought one back so Bill could see!

The thermostat has won!

I am freezing, my thermostat has beaten me. We got a new one and I can't work it. Picture this, me on the couch in my fluffy pink polka dot PJ's (courtesy of Jean) two shirts, two blankets, fire place on and the dog on my lap.
I have tried for 2 days to get the dang thing to work. I have pushed every button. Last night I finally got it to the heat side but it wouldn't get higher than 65 degrees. I was bundled up all night then at like 2 in the morning I woke up SWEATING... it finally turned on.. I didn't dare touch is but low and behold this morning it was again FREEZING. Teeth chattering. This afternoon when I came home, wet and cold from the snow it was like walking into an refrigerator. We have stone floors so it was SUPER cold on my feet.
All afternoon I have changed every setting! I sound like an idiot but I promise I am not! College educated and everything!
About and hour later while I was talking on the phone to Bill I yelled into the phone to Bill, IT IS WORKING!I finally got it to turn the fan on which I thought would be helpful! I was ecstatic! He conveniently had to get off the phone then. :)

Thirty minutes later it was COLDER than before! I fiddled with it again and the fan turned off (Thank GOD) but NO heat.

That was 4 hours ago! I have since given up.
I am now waiting up for Bill to get home from NY to turn on my heat. Pitiful!

Snow Day!

That is right we had a snow day here in HOUSTON! Can you believe it? I was at school today and I can tell you that I have NEVER seen so many happy faces while we were waiting for the decision to close school. These were from the adults as well as the kids. It was like people were waiting for Santa to come knocking at the door. I was practically giddy!

I had been in a good mood since this morning. Normally mornings around the house are filled with grumpiness but we were off in record time. I needed to take Victoria early today as Bill is away on business. It was VERY cold so I loaded everyone in the car and then let out a Brrr.... which I guess Vic took as a whoop!
She said why are you in such a good mood! I said that I guess I was happy because the Lord had helpped us get out the door before 7:00. She said, who is "The Lord". I said... GOD. The she thought about it for a time and said HOW did he help us? Like she missed him coming in and lending a hand! HA I said, I think he helped us all be in a good mood this morning. Vallerie agreed with a tiny YEP!

Cast of Characters

So welcome to the little blog. You probably know me so my cast will be brief! If not there is a little info on each person!

MyBill
Hubby of 2 years, LOVE of my life. Husband number 2 if you are counting! Likes to go shopping ,clean (good news for me ladies!), play scrabble, and cook. CAN he be any better! My family was yelling for me to keep this "Hope diamond"

Meagan
Oldest daughter, attends college now. Was very shy but last week she went skydiving so maybe she is opening up! VERY sweet and I am so happy she is in my life!

Will
FUNNY. Really there is nothing more to say He is my our only boy and I read somewhere everyone should get to have a boy live with them. It is a joy. He is funny. I mean really....one liners come out of him and I could pee my pants! Another good thing, the girls LOVE him (the little girls not like the "ladies" with that we have a don't ask don't tell.

Victoria
She is your typical 6 year old... well not typical in the mouth department she is very witty, sarcastic and good for the occasional laugh. The way she thinks is widly funny. At least I get a kick out of her! Picture a tiny, skinny, almost white blond hair.... with a dry sense of humor and a backwards way of making sense of the world! Oh and throw in a little of the "I always know the right answer!"

Vallerie
The baby, 5 years old. She almost didn't make it but now she seems to be running through life at break neck speed...destroying a ton of things in her path! She has a sweet heart but of course tough as nails on the outside. Oh and she loves a SNACK!

Jean
She is the god mother of my daughters and they love to go to Gege's. Best friend in the world! I have taught with her for ten years, right next door in fact. When it was time to leave the old school we found one that wanted a two for one deal. A BOGO of sorts! LOVE her sense of humor! Can you see theme here... EVERYONE is funny!

Mom and Keith
Mother (duh!) and Step father. I talk to Mom (she is another one of my best friends!) daily and she isn't so good with the computer so she will probably just hear about the blog from Cathy! Keith Salt of the Earth... Couldn't ask for a better guy!

Dad
My father (again duh!) "Hell of a guy!" Funny! slightly paranoid but who isn't. He will have to read this in BIG print so that he can see it. I love my dad, even if he is a bit on the crazy side. Just don't ask him about the Freemasons... he isn't talking!

Bubba (Bub) for short
My uncle... a bit strange too. I won't be talking too much about him. Some people think he is in the witness protection program. :) He can't go too far as he won't get on a plane!

Michelle
My sister just moved into her own house... more to come on that I can assure you! LOVE her.. of course! Currently attached to SS, "Short Stack" I think my sister's biker name should be Ms. Buttersworth...but for some reason she didn't think that was funny!

I know I am boring you but I have just a couple more.
Cheryl
My "new" friend(she would get upset if I call her old)... today she asked me if I had a friend who was hard to be friends with, something about how they never stop complaining, tough to listen to...etc.... Then she pauses a beat and says "I am that friend for you right!" HA.. NOOOOO of course not.

Michele, Gracie, Joey
My old boss but I enjoy as a friend even more! Gracie is a hoot! Bill's ultimate playmate at dinner! Michele gives me the advice on handling the children... Something to do with drinking a lot!

I could go on an on.. but enough already!

See you tomorrow!
